I moved to a new apartment back in August, and due to the cost of the move, didn't have the money for internet, until now. I now have a proper internet connection, and maybe, perhaps, not likely, actually be active on deviant art. I've been busy with game mod projects, work, and that annoying thing called life, so my drawing has been very limited, and I wouldn't expect uploads of new pieces any time soon.

I do plan to get back into contact with some of my union friends, and hopefully get back involved in the political scene here on DA. apparently I haven't been replaced on CPDA yet, somehow. So, I guess that door is still very much open for me.

Now that I have internet, I now have to struggle with my past addiction to online games. I've spent to much time on Guild wars 2, I don't need that kind of drain on my limited free time.

Laughing Rabbit is back (props if you caught the video game reference.)

I'm back online, however, I can't promise I'll be active, post new art anytime soon or reply the the 63 some odd comments I've received over the course of the few months I've been on hiatus. I've been doing a balancing act on not being homeless, so far, I'm successful, and I hope it lasts. (I make to much to be effected by Maryland's minimum wage increase anytime soon, but to little to afford much in living arrangements.)

I'm feeling something similar to Gordon Comstock in the Orwell book, "Keep The Aspidistra Flying," where the exhaustion as a result of my job and general chaos of my life has left me little energy to put ideas to paper. Fortunately, someone was kind enough to gift me a Kindle fire tablet recently, and I've found a good app by auto-desk to sketch on the pad during my lunch breaks. However, I have fat finger syndrome and too stingy to buy a good stylus combined with the limitations of a touch screen, so drawing on it takes more time and patience than with a pencil, so I don't expect to post too many drawings from my tablet.

as for MAGD (Maryland Alliance for Grassroots Democracy), we haven't achieved much, due to general chaos associated with all of our members lives. Between work, kids, and some of us balancing school on-top of it all, we don't have much time to do much else beyond survive. Its a bit of a flaw in the whole, grassroots, bottom up method of organizing.

Yours in Revolution,
The Laughing Rabbit

My obligatory post on the Doctor Who 50th anniversary. I know many of you watch for the politics, but I'm a long time nerd as well, and a long time whovian. So, I geeked out when Tom Baker showed up on screen. Hell, I geeked a little when I saw that scarf on that girl, because I had hope they would go somewhere with it, and they did. Wish he offered 11 a jelly baby.

98 years ago Joe hill was murdered. Hill was charged and convicted of murdering a man he had not met in a town he just entered. Prior to being arrested, Joe hill was treated for a bullet wound in which he was shot with his hands up (his coat had a bullet hole in it four inches above the exit wound in his back, suggesting his hands were up.) despite the lack of evidence, hill was convicted and executed by firing squad in Salt lake city Utah. Hill's lawyer said "The main thing the state had on Hill was that he was an IWW and therefore sure to be guilty. Hill tried to keep the IWW out of [the trial]... but the press fastened it upon him." Hill later wrote in the socialist newspaper, appeal to reason, "Owing to the prominence of Mr Morrison, there had to be a 'goat' [scapegoat] and the undersigned being, as they thought, a friendless tramp, a Swede, and worst of all, an IWW, had no right to live anyway, and was therefore duly selected to be 'the goat'." Hill's final words were the famous lines "don't mourn, organize." His ashes were sent to every Wobbly state headquarters across the U.S. and spread in every state except Utah, where he was executed.
